On Leigh Folk Festival Day
Down
the hill to the Old Town
And
along the cobbled street
Following
the sound of the drum
And
the dancers' tapping feet
AND HERE WE ARE TOGETHER
AS THE BANDS BEGIN TO PLAY
AND WE'LL ALL JOIN IN
WE'LL ALL JOIN IN
ON LEIGH FOLK FESTIVAL DAY
With
clashing sticks of Morris Men
And
cries that fill the air
There
are songs to sing and melodies
And
laughter everywhere
The
piper leads the procession
To
the wharf beside the sea
And
the dancers move to the four-hand reel
Like
a changing tapestry
Rock
'n' rollers, busking strollers
Melodeons
and guitars
Music
round every corner
Music
in all the bars
When
the midsummer's dream has ended
And
you wake at the top of the hill
Your
mind is back in the Old Town
And
you want to be there still
